Another sketch design instead of inked work. “Fire and Smoke”
“Melt and Evaporate”
“Feather and Wood” This was the alternative bird drawing for the three-eyed raven, which I still need to post in my art section.
“Cracks and Smoke”
“Bird and Dog” The end of the semester grind is going to get me. Not transferred or cleaned up. No effs given.
This project has been pretty fun so far. It’s really making my brain do somersaults to try to come up with something fresh and still stay somewhat in the same categories of the previous drawings. I try to set rules and restrictions for these drawings as a way to keep consistency and also to figure out creatively what I want from the image. The most frustrating part is trying to balance this project alongside work and projects. Sometimes I get behind because I am painting four paintings in the studio or grading a marathon of papers from my lecture class. Then other times I catch up and draw 2-3 of these sketches, only to get behind again (usually on the next day). Currently I’m one day behind, but I’m hoping that will end with school. I do like that this project constantly shows me that it doesn’t take much time to work in my sketchbook, to build a creative habit, and that small ideas can constantly contribute to the larger ones.
